SCOPE
To maintain and certify Fire Alarm and AOV systems.
To complete the installation and modification of Fire Detection Systems
To Install various fire alarm systems in commercial / residential / premises
Expertise working with a variety of Fire Alarm Systems including addressable and conventional systems such as Apollo, Advanced, Kentec, Morley, Gent, EMS
To have a wide knowledge and understanding of BS5839-1 and AOV systems
To carry out duties of maintenance of Fire alarm systems and AOV’s to the British standards BS5839-1 and BS7346-8
Proven experience with programming, cause and effect.

KNOWLEDGE
Extensive knowledge of working with a variety of Fire Alarm Systems including addressable and conventional systems such as Apollo, Advanced, Kentec, Morley, Gent, EMS
Experience and Knowledge on AOV systems
Strong knowledge of BS 5839‑1:2025 and its implications for installation, commissioning, and servicing of fire alarm systems.
Ability to interpret schematics, zone charts, and technical documentation.
Proven experience with programming, cause and effect.
Knowledge of the EWC employee’s handbook, EWC policies and processes and EWC ISO system of works.
Knowledge of the current legislation and good practice across the industry and identification of any areas where additional or updated training would be beneficial.
Understanding of the H&S at works act, current H&S legislation applicable to construction and the project involved with.
Essential
Knowledge of BS5839-1 and AOV systems (Competent / Trained Person)
Understanding of BS 7671 electrical requirements as they relate to fire alarm installations.
Hold a current ECS Card. (Fire Alarm)
Full UK driving license as this role will require driving to various sites on a daily basis.
SKILLS
Full knowledge of Fire alarms and general practicalities of installing/Commissioning and managing the services.
Basics of fire alarm system installation and maintenance, signal processing, and power distribution.
Presentation and communication, able in the use of the English language for verbal and written communication.
Regularly testing fire alarm systems to ensure they function correctly and addressing any faults promptly. Ensuring all components are correctly installed and maintained
A developed ability to assess site conditions from a physical inspection and interpretation of intrusive surveys and non-intrusive surveys.
An ability to read and understand tender documents especially specifications, drawings and terms & conditions.
Able to plan and organise the work necessary to achieve the project requirements and key milestones.
Ability to establish good relationships with internal and external team members.
Good levels of verbal and written communication skills. Research and reporting skills, able to review information and present it in an accessible way.
OTHER
The ability to travel to a range of sites.
Appreciation that there might be out of hours working, agreed in advance.
DUTIES
Install/Commission new fire alarm panels, detectors, call points, and other related equipment according to design specifications.
Perform routine checks and maintenance on existing fire alarm systems to ensure they are working correctly and comply with safety standards
Identify and fix faults or issues with fire alarm systems quickly to minimize downtime.
Test fire alarm systems after installation or repair to confirm correct operation and compliance with relevant standards (such as BS5839-1).
Complete Fire Alarm/AOV certificate forms, paperwork and records.
To assist in the office where required.
Find the best engineering solution to allow maximum benefit to the project within the remits of the specification and standards. To attend appraisal meetings as required.
To attend company staff meetings and toolbox talks.
